Details
Based on the petit point embroidery technique, the Silaï collection reinterprets the basic fundamentals of this work in an innovative revision, applied to both the stitching and the scale and thickness of the threads. The patterns are based on the geometry of triangles, squares, hexagons, diamonds, octagons and crosses, all inspired by antique tiles.
The different designs on the carpets, poufs and cushions are based on four different stitch lengths, hand embroidered by Indian craftsmen with 100% virgin wool threads on a PVC grid. Additionally, three sizes of wooden auxiliary tables add functionality and make it possible to configure the Silaï space in the most versatile way.
Silaï, a GAN Spaces collection
GAN spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods. Suggestive proposals that, stemming from a rug, are capable of bringing to life a whole family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment or “space”. A set of designs linked together, designed to project stimulating and contemporary atmospheres with an open, flexible and casual configuration.
Charlotte Lancelot, designer of the Silaï collection
Charlotte Lancelot was born and raised in Brussels, where she studied industrial design at the Higher National School of Visual Arts of Cambre. After graduating in 2003, she worked at the office of architect and designer Alain Berteau for two years, before founding her own studio. The work of Charlotte Lancelot is characterized by a deep contemporary revision of traditional techniques and references to the past with new textures and color palettes. Her personal style can be appreciated in all of her creations, including Canevas, launched in 2012, Silaï (2015) and Canevas Geo (2018).
