SILAÏ SMALL POUF CELADON

Reference: SILAISMALLPUFCELADON

Availability: 12 - 16 weeks

$1,340.00

This is the Small Celadon pouf from the Silaï collection, embroidered with thick pale green, white and yellow wool. The yarns are stitched into different geometrical shapes: hexagons, squares, octagons. This pattern recalls the geometry of certain ceramic or wooden floors, translated into a textile language. Some of its edges are accented in bright yellow. It is a square piece that may be used as an informal seat or as a footrest.

Details

Based on the embroidery technique of petit point, the Silaï collection is an innovative proposal by designer Charlotte Lancelot, who reinterprets the basic principles of this work through a very specific lense, revising both the stitch types and the scale and thickness of the threads.

Using only four different stitch lengths, the craftsmen who embroider the rugs, poufs and cushions shape a series of attractive patterns based on triangles, squares, hexagons, rhombuses, octagons and crosses, inspired old tile designs.

All of the elements in the Silaï collection are hand-embroidered by Indian artisans with 100% virgin wool yarn on a PVC grid. They are all created to harmonize with each other, so that you can make colorful compositions with different models. Additionally, three sizes of wooden auxiliary tables add functionality and make it possible to configure the Silaï space in the most versatile way.

Silaï, a GAN Spaces collection

GAN spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods. Suggestive proposals that, stemming from a rug, are capable of bringing to life a whole family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment or “space”. A set of designs linked together, designed to project stimulating and contemporary atmospheres with an open, flexible and casual configuration.

Charlotte Lancelot, designer of the Silaï collection

Charlotte Lancelot was born and raised in Brussels, where she studied industrial design at the Higher National School of Visual Arts of Cambre. After graduating in 2003, she worked at the office of architect and designer Alain Berteau for two years, before founding her own studio. The work of Charlotte Lancelot is characterized by a deep contemporary revision of traditional techniques and references to the past with new textures and color palettes. Her personal style can be appreciated in all of her creations, including Canevas, launched in 2012, Silaï (2015) and Canevas Geo (2018).
