Dragonfly, a rug from our Hand Knotted collection
The hand-knotted technique is a manual rug-making method that allows for extremely detailed designs, precisely because rugs are made knot by knot. It is a very laborious technique and, consequently, it offers great flexibility. Bearing this peculiarity in mind, we at GAN create hand-knotted designs with both uniform patterns as well as with an apparent randomness.
Nendo studio, designer of Dragonfly
Nendo is a multidisciplinary design studio based in Tokyo and Milan. Founded in 2002 by architect Oki Sato, the firm specializes not only in architecture and interior design but also product design, graphics, merchandising, exhibitions and consulting. Its proposals stand out due to the novel approach they offer, always surprising and often with an important poetic character, which is why many of them are part of collections of some of the most important museums in the world. In particular, the ability to tackle everyday objects with a completely unexplored perspective is one of its most valued contributions to the field of design, having received countless awards and recognitions.
