Details
The collection includes two sizes of modular seats, screens that may be used as backrests or dividers, two pillows, and a rug, all of them with a different version of the same attractive, minimalist embroidery. Their unique design is the result of Neri&Hu's interest in reviewing the functions of the traditional oriental screen as well as an exercise in deconstructing the usual format of a sofa.
The two pillows work as accessories for the modules, or as accents that pick up the tones of the LAN rugs. This model is made on a manual loom.
Lan, a GAN Spaces Collection
GAN spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods. Suggestive proposals that, stemming from a rug, are capable of bringing to life a whole family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment or “space”. A set of designs linked together, designed to project stimulating and contemporary atmospheres with an open, flexible and casual configuration.
Neri&Hu, designers of the Lan collection
After graduating as architects from the University of Berkeley, California, Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu continued their training at Harvard and Princeton, respectively. Their first professional endeavors happened between California and New York, where they worked for several architecture studios, coinciding in the office of Michael Graves. In 2004, they founded their own studio in Shanghai, the Neri&Hu Design and Research Office, with an additional design practice in London. They work internationally in interdisciplinary projects of architecture and interior design, furniture design, lighting and decorative accessories. Their proposals are characterized by a need to revitalize traditional elements or handcrafted productions, something clearly visible in their collaboration with GAN.
