NUANCES POUF VOLCANO

Reference: ENPUFVOLCANO

Availability: 12 - 16 weeks

$1,340.00

The Volcano pouf from the Nuances collection is a large element that functions as a seat and also allows the rugs of this series to acquire three-dimensionality: Line, Round and Curve. Conceived by Patricia Urquiola, Nuances is made with a novel type of felt developed by the designer and GAN, which simulates a texture reminiscent of granite. The design, based on linear stripes or curves in different tones, makes it possible to compose dynamic and sinuous landscapes, which acquire volume thanks to the poufs, also transmitting an apparent sense of continuity. This model mixes colored stripes in gray, raw wool,
orange beige, blue and charcoal gray.

Details

The innovative stony look of the Nuances collection is the result of a long product development process, carried out by designer Patricia Urquiola and GAN. The research process started with the search for a manufacturing method that would allow to recycle leftover fibers to obtain a felt agglomerate with a novel aesthetic. Nuances is, therefore, a collection developed with a sustainable goal in mind: reusing leftover wool that would otherwise go to waste to achieve an agglomerate material.

Patricia Urquiola has reinvented in this way a natural material, already exceptionally versatile, warm and malleable, to create a collection of rugs and poufs with a stunning aesthetic and unique compositional options - even colonizing vertical planes. In addition, it is made and sewn by hand, so that the entire Nuances collection is completely handmade.

Nuances, a GAN Spaces collection

GAN spaces are collections meticulously constructed from innovative concepts and artisanal production methods. Suggestive proposals that, stemming from a rug, are capable of bringing to life a whole family of modules and accessories with which to design an environment or “space”. A set of designs linked together, designed to project stimulating and contemporary atmospheres with an open, flexible and casual configuration.

Patricia Urquiola, designer of the Nuances collection

Patricia Urquiola is an architect and designer of Spanish origin who settled in Italy after graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1989. After working with Italian masters of design such as Achille Castiglioni or Vico Magistretti, she founded her own studio in 2001. Since then, she has tackled very diverse projects, from furniture and lighting to ephemeral installations or the integral design of hotels. Her sensitivity to traditional handmade objects and international cooperation in the field of handmade productions led to the start of a fruitful collaboration in 2004 with GAN, which continues to this day.
